2003 US NATIONAL SANSHOU TEAM TRIAL SELECTION CRITERIA

Competitors must be:
1.) Citizen of the United States of America
2.) In good health
3.) Member of good standing of the USAWKF
4.) Must be able to compete at the World Wushu Championships at Macao, China, in November of 2003.Competition Objectives:
Selection of U.S. National Sanshou Team members will be comprised of an A team, which will consist of five men and four women, and a B team (alternates) which will also consist of five men and four women.
The U.S. National Sanshou Team (A Team) selected will represent the United States of America at the 7th World Wushu Championships held in Macao, China in November of 2003.Date and Venue:
2003 U. S. National Sanshou Team Trials Competition will be held on June 27th-28th, 2003 at Georgia International Convention Center at Atlanta International AirportCompetition categories:
Men
1. 60 kg and below
2. 65 kg and below
3. 70 kg and below
4. 75 kg and below
5. 80 kg and below
6. 85 kg and below
7. 90 kg and below
8. Over 90 kgWomen
1. 52 kg and below
2. 56 kg and below
3. 60 kg and below
4. 65 kg and below
5. 70 kg and below
6. 75 kg and aboveAll fighters should mark their intended weight classification on the registration form. The final weigh-ins will determine what weight classification a given fighter will actually compete in at the Team Trials.
Rules of Competition:
Rules of competition will be conducted in accordance with the "1999 Rules for International Wushu Competition" published by the International Wushu Federation (IWuF).Registration:

Registration Fee: $80.00Selection and Placement:
This criteria shall be used to determine the five (5) male A & five (5) male B (Alternate), and four (4) female A & four (4) female B (Alternates) team members.To qualify for the team, every fighter must participate in the preliminary fights. In divisions that have only one fighter, the Sanshou Selection Committee reserves the right to pair up the fighter with another fighter in a higher or lower weight class. However, fighters with the following qualifications will have the privilege of using a bye during the preliminary fights:
Former member of US National Team
- A fighter who has placed either first, second, or third in at least one of the previous three (3) USAWKF championships.
- A fighter who has placed either first, second, or third in at least one of the previous
three (3) USASKF championships.With eight categories in male and six categories in female, there could be more than five (5) first place winners in male divisions, and more than four (4) in female divisions if all categories have participants. The following qualifications, which are ranked in descending order of importance, will be used to determine who will be selected for the A Team.
US Team fighter has placed either first, second, or third in at least one of the previous
three (3) World Championships.
The fighter has been on the U.S. Team for 2 (two) consecutive terms.
Members of the former USA National Team.
Former USAWKF National Champions.
Former USASKF Superstar Title Winners.
Former US Open International Sanshou Title WinnersArbitration Committee:
An Arbitration Committee will be established to handle the disputes of the matches. Arbitration Committee's decisions on the winner of the matches will be final.Sanshou Selection Committee:
USAWKF will establish a Sanshou Selection Committee, which shall handle situations that may arise that is not covered by the above criteria. Should the above criteria be unable to determine the placement of the winners on the A Team, Selection Committee will vote on the fighters. Decisions made by the Sanshou Selection Committee will be final.

D. Competition Methods
The competition will be conducted in accordance with the International Wushu Federation rules. (Revised 1999)II. Sanshou Competition - 18 Gold Medals (11 for men and 7 for women)
A. Men: Individual Competition

Each IWUF member association may register 9 athletes - 5 men, 4 women Each team may enter only one athlete in one category each for both men and women Athlete must be born before December 31, 1985 and after January 1, 1968. (Approx. age 18 - 35) Athlete must present a Health Certificate issued by a qualified doctor at least 20 days before the competitions. The Certificate must clearly state that the athlete is in good health and able to compete.D. Competition Methods
- The competition will be conducted in accordance with the Rules for International Wushu Sanshou Competition established in 1999 by the International Wushu Federation (IWuF).
III. Placing and Awards
Sanshou:
- The top three places of each Competition Event will be awarded as follows:
1st place - Gold Medal & Certificate
2nd place - Silver Medal & Certificate
3rd place (juxtaposition) - Bronze Medal & CertificateIV. Doping Control
A. Doping control will be conducted at the 7th World Wushu Championships. The detailed testing plan, number of tests and testing equipment will be determined and provided by the IWUF Medical Committee.
V. Participation Fee - includes food, accommodations, local transportation and admission.
A. Single Occupancy:
- Athletes & Officials - $50 per day
- Observers - $70 per day
B. Double Occupancy:
- Athletes & Officials - $60 per day
- Observers - $80 per day
