1st World Traditional Wushu Championships Rescheduled to October 16-20,2004

The 1st World Traditional Wushu Championships, the first of its kind to be organized by International Wushu Federation (IWUF) has been rescheduled to October 16-20, 2004.

The event was originally scheduled September 16-20, 2004, however, the host of the event, Zhengzhou City was unable to have CCTV broadcast the event live in September due to scheduling conflicts. CCTV is the largest and major TV station in China, and their programs reaches several hundred million viewers.

Zhengzhou City is the capital of Henan Province. It is located three hours from the renown Shaolin Temple and a couple hours from Chen Village, the birthplace of Tai Chi Chuan (Taijiquan).

USAWKF is still waiting for the registration package from the Zhengzhou Organizing Committee in order to establish the guidelines for team trials. The USAWKF is planning to send more than one team to participate in this historical event. Details of team trials will be announced when information from China becomes available.
