The 97 member-nation International Wushu Federation (IWUF) will host its 1st World Traditional Wushu Festival (WTWF) in Zhengzhou City, Henan China from October 16 - 20, 2004. This event, first of its kind, it is anticipated to have hundreds of teams from all over the world attending. Unlike the official World Wushu Championships, IWUF member organization members are allowed to send more than one team to participate. Teams participating in this event must be authorized by the member organizations of IWUF. All participating teams from the U.S. must be authorized and registered by USAWKF, and the USAWKF is establishing the following criteria for selecting the teams. The team trials are open to every citizen and permanent resident of the United States.
Based on the overwhelming response we have received, USAWKF will be authorizing officials and lifetime school members to host the team trials in various cities in the U.S. to provide the convenience for the participants. The following organizers will be conducting the team trials in their respective cities. More organizers and their contact information will be listed on our website as soon as they become available. TEAM TRIAL CRITERIA
1. Organizer of Team Trials: Must be an official or lifetime school member of USAWKF
2. Athletes must be:
a. U.S. Citizen or permanent resident
b. In good health
c. Member of good standing of USAWKF
d. If selected must be able to compete at 1st World Traditional Wushu Festival
3. USAWKF will assign an official on-site at the team trial to supervise and oversee the procedures and selection criteria.
4. The organizer of the Team Trials, the on-site USAWKF official, and the judges present will determine the results of the team trials. Judging will be based on the overall skill of the athlete.
5. Age Divisions:
a. Group A: below age 16 (including 16)
b. Group B: age 17-29
c. Group C: age 30-44
d. Group D: age 45-55
e. Group E: age 56-65
f. Group F: above age 66 (including 66)
6. Bare-Hand Routine Divisions:
a. Taijiquan
b. Nanquan (Southern Styles)
c. Xingyi
d. Bagua
e. Baji
f. Tongbi
g. Pigua
h. Fanzi
i. Ditang (Floor Techniques)
j. Xiangxing (Animal Styles)
k. Chaquan
l. Huaquan
m. Paoquan
n. Hongquan
o. To be announced later)
p. Shaolinquan
q. Other bare-hand routines
7. Weapon Divisions:
a. Gunshu (long staff)
b. Qiangshu (spear)
c. Daoshu (broad sword)
d. Jianshu (straight sword)
e. Double Broadsword
f. Double Straight Sword
g. Double Whip
h. Double Hook
i. Three-section Staff
j. Whip
k. Other weapons
Please note that with 6 age groups, 17 bare-hand divisions and 11 weapon divisions, there will be a total of 336 divisions at the 1st WTWF.
8. Administrative Fee:
USAWKF will charge a minimum administrative fee for participants and observers who travel to Zhengzhou in October 2004. This fee does not include the registration fee due to the Zhengzhou Organizing Committee. The cost will be $165.00 for each athlete and $225.00 for each observer. USAWKF will handle the registration, rooming list, gathering flight and travel information, arrange airport pickups, supply visa requirement materials, follow-ups and updates between the Organizing Committee and the participants.
Organizers are advised to conduct team trials before July 25, 2004 to meet the registration deadline.
9. 2004 Traditional Wushu Team Trials are sanctioned by the USAWKF & the USANTWF.
10. Important:
Athletes who are qualified to participate in the 1st WTWF need to register to compete. If you haven't done so, please contact your team trial organizer or the USAWKF immediately for the registration form.

Team Trial fee: $45.00 payable to the organizer.
Registration Deadline: 7 days before the actual team trial date posted by the organizer. Late fee after deadline: $15.00
