THE 8th WORLD WUSHU CHAMPIONSHIPS


GENERAL INFORMATION AND RULES

1. DATE AND PLACE
The 8th World Wushu Championships will be held from December 8 to 15, 2005 in Hanoi, Vietnam.

2. COMPETITION AND TRAINING VENUES
A. Competition venues – Quan Ngua Sports Palace
B. Training venues – Training Hall of the Quan Ngua Sports Palace

3. COMPETITION EVENTS
Competitions will include Taolu and Sanshou.

4. QUALIFICATIONS
A. All the IWUF Member Federations are qualified to participate in the Championships.
B. The Federations who have not paid the IWUF annual membership fees of 2004 and 2005 will not be allowed to participate in the Championships.
C. The new member federations can be invited to take part in the Championships after their applications are accepted.

5. ENTRIES
A. Preliminary Entries
The Preliminary Entry Forms must state the exact number of competitors taking part in the events. And the entries must reach the IWUF Secretariat and the Organizing Committee of the 8th World Wushu Championships no later than 24:00 (Hanoi standard time) on September 8, 2005. They can be sent by mail or fax:

B. The Final Entry Forms (Events and the names of competitors taking part in the events) must reach the above – mentioned address by mail or fax no later than 24:00 (Hanoi standard time) on November 8, 2005.
C. The Final Entry Forms must be prepared and certified in triplicate:
One copy to the IWUF Secretariat in Beijing, China.
One copy must be sent to the Vietnam Wushu Federation.
One copy must be brought with the team as confirmation during team registration.
D. No changes or additional entries will be accepted after the time limit. Under special circumstances, Federation may apply to the Technical Committee in writing for alternatives but there will be penalty charge of US$100 per event or participant. No changes will be accepted after December 8, 2005 22:00 (Hanoi standard time).
E. All entries must be properly typed or printed in English or Chinese. They are valid only when signed by the President or Secretary General of the respective Federation and bearing the official stamp of the Federation.

6. Financial Conditions
A. All participating teams shall be responsible for their international airfare. During the competition, each team member and judge will be charged US$ 35 per day (double room) or US$ 45 per day (single room) if they stay at the 3 star hotels; US$ 45 per day (double room) or US$ 55 per day (single room) if they stay at the 4 star hotels; US$ 55 per day (double room) or US$ 70 per day (single room) if they stay at the 5 star hotels; The charge includes food, accommodation and local transportation. All fees must be paid to the Organizing Committee of the 8th World Wushu Championships.
B. All participating teams are required to check – in at the Organizing Committee no later than 24:00 (Hanoi standard time) on December 8, 2005. The Organizing Committee will be responsible for arranging the accommodation from December 8, 2005 (9:00 Hanoi standard time) to December 15, 2005 (12:00 Hanoi standard time). Teams staying beyond that time will have to pay their own expenses. They will have to pay the same price as mentioned in the regulations. If any teams arriving earlier than the required date or departing later than the required date, they should inform the Organizing Committee to arrange for their accommodation before November 8, 2005.
C. The IWUF and Organizing Committee request all participating teams to lodge at the designated hotels. These who do not stay at the designated hotels will have to pay a participation fee of US$100 per athlete and US$ 80 per team manager, coach and doctor. If some participants can’t take part in all scheduled activities on time, they should take the consequences for their actions. All participating teams are required to check – in at the Vietnam Wushu Federation no later than 24:00 (Hanoi standard time) on December 8, 2005.

7. COMPETITION MANAGEMENT AND TECHNICAL OFFICIALS
A. The 8th World Wushu Championships Organizing Committee shall be responsible for the organization of the competitions during the Championships under the guidance of the IWUF Executive Committee and Technical Committee.
B. Each Taolu Team and Sanshou Team can send one International Grade Judge (They should pass the examinations in 2004 and 2005. The International Judges (IWUF License holders) must present their valid certificates issued by IWUF to the Organizing Committee for registration. Besides, the designated judges, jury members and technical officials required for the Championships will be invited after consultation between the Organizing Committee and IWUF.
C. Technical Meeting
The Technical Meeting for team managers and coaches will take place on December 9, 2005. The meeting will announce the matters related to the competitions. Each team should send two representatives for taolu and two representatives for sanshou to attend the meeting.
D. The Drawing – lots Ceremony of the 8th World Wushu Championships will be conducted by the IWUF Technical Committee at 10:00 on December 9, 2005. Each team may send two representatives to attend the ceremony. The IWUF Technical Committee will draw on behalf of the teams that are unable to send a representative.

8. PLACING AND AWARDS
A. Taolu:
The top eight places of each competition event for men and women respectively will be awarded as follows:
1st place Gold Medal & Certificate
2nd place Silver Medal & Certificate
3rd place Bronze Medal & Certificate
4th – 8th place Certificate

B. Sanshou:
The top three places of each category for men and women respectively will be awarded as follows:
1st place Gold Medal & Certificate
2nd place Silver Medal & Certificate
3rd place Bronze Medal & Certificate

Note:
If the number of participants is over 10, the top eight places (including 10) of each competition event will be awarded for taolu.
If the number of participants is between 6 – 9, the top three places will be awarded.
If the number of participants is between 3 – 5, the top two places will be awarded.

9. OTHER MATTERS
A. All the participating teams should observe the regulations and rules of the competition and compete fairly.
B. Those who violate the regulations shall be dealt with according to the relevant regulations of the IWUF.
Each team is required to bring the following:
a. 3 National flags, regional flags or federation flags (1m×2m);
b. The national anthem or federation song in CD or cassette;
c. 3 photos (passport size) per team member;
d. The copy of the Final Entry Form;
e. Health Certificates of all athletes (both Taolu & Sanshou) and Life Insurance Certificate (country or region);
f. The 8th World Wushu Championships “Waiver of Liabilities” for each participant.

THE 8th WORLD WUSHU CHAMPIONSHIPS


Taolu Competition Regulation

1. Date and Place
The 8th World Wushu Championships will be held from December 8 to 15, 2005 in Hanoi, Vietnam.

2. Venue
A. Competition venues –Quan Ngua Sports Palace
B. Training venues –Training Hall of the Quan Ngua Sports Palace

3. Competition Events
A. Taolu
a. Changquan, Nanquan and Taijiquan will be implemented according to Optional routine of the new competition rules (The athletes can choose the degree of difficulty of movements of categories A and B. If they choose the degree of difficulty of movements of category C, the value will be awarded according to the value of degree of difficulty of movements of category B). The athletes are requested to fill out the Registration Form for Movements with Degree of Difficulty and the Scoring Method and Criteria for Optional Events will be implemented. At the same category of degree of difficulty, the movement with the same degree of difficulty can be done two times at most, but the movement with degree of difficulty of connecting movements cannot be repeated (The degree of difficulty of connecting movements of Changquan, Jian, Dao, Qiang and Gun and whirlwind 540° in the Degree of Difficulty of Connecting Movements and Value can be followed by stances).
b. Daoshu, Jianshu, Nandao, Taijijian, Qiangshu, Gunshu and Nangun (Either international competition routine or optional routine. The Scoring Criteria for Non-Degree of Difficulty of Movements will be implemented. The Deduction Method & Criteria for Group A is the same as that of Group A of Optional Events.)
B. Dual events
Dual events shall be conducted by 2 or 3 persons. Men and women cannot be mixed for registration. The Scoring Method and Criteria for Dual Events will be implemented.

4. Qualification
A. Only IWUF Members will be allowed to participate.
B. The Federations who have not paid the IWUF annual membership fees of 2004 and 2005 will not be allowed to participate in the Championships.
C. The new member federations can be invited to take part in the Championships after their applications are accepted.

5. Participation Methods
A. All the IWUF Members may participate in the Championships. Each country or region may enter one (1) team composed of maximum fourteen (14) members, including ten (10) competitors (including men & women), a team leader, two coaches and a doctor.
B. Each competitor may enter a maximum four (4) Competition Events (1 Quanshu, or 1 Short Weapon Routine, or 1 Long Weapon Routine, or 1 Dual Event).
C. Each team may enter one of the dual events both for men and women.
D. Each competitor should bring along with a Health Certificate (including electrocardiogram, electroencephalogram, pulse and blood pressure) issued at least 30 days before the competitions signed by a qualified doctor and a Life Insurance Certificate.
E. The Registration Form for Degree of Difficulty for Optional Routines (Changquan, Nanquan and Taijiquan) shall be submitted to the IWUF Secretariat 2 months prior to the competition.

6. Competition Methods
A. The competition shall be individual competition.
B. The competition will be conducted in accordance with the Rules for International Wushu Taolu Competition (Trial Version) endorsed by the IWUF in 2003. No requirements for compulsory movements in overall performance are made.
C. The power of interpretation of the Rules rests solely with the IWUF. In the event of disagreement in the interpretation of the Rules, the Chinese Text shall prevail.

7. Costumes and Equipment
A. Competitors shall wear Wushu competition costumes in compliance with the Rules during all the competitions.
B. All equipment and facilities at the competition and training sites must be in conformity with the Rules.
C. Competitors shall bring their own equipment for their respective events in accordance with the Rules.

8. Technical Meeting
The meeting for team manager and coach will be held at 9:00 on December 9, 2005. Each team may send two representatives to attend the meeting at which matters relating the competitions shall be announced.

9. Drawing-lots
The Drawing – lots Ceremony of the 8th World Wushu Championships will be conducted by the IWUF Technical Committee at 10:00 on December 9, 2005. Each team may send two representatives to attend the ceremony. The IWUF Technical Committee will draw on behalf of the teams that are unable to send a representative.

10. Registration
A. The judges shall register at the Vietnam Wushu Federation on December 5, 2005.
B. The participating teams shall register at the Vietnam Wushu Federation on December 8, 2005.

11. Other matters
A. The participating teams should strictly observe the regulations and rules of the competition and compete fairly.
B. Violators shall be dealt with seriously in accordance with the IWUF regulations.

Sanshou Competition Regulation

1. Competition Events
A. Men:
a. 48 kg; b. 52 kg; c. 56 kg; d. 60 kg; e. 65 kg; f. 70 kg; g. 75 kg; h. 80 kg;
i. 85 kg; j. 90 kg; k. 90 kg+
B. Women:
a. 48 kg; b. 52 kg; c. 56 kg; d. 60 kg; e. 65 kg; f. 70 kg; g. 75 kg

2. Participation Methods
A. Only IWUF member federations will be allowed to participate.
Each country or region may enter one (1) team composed of maximum fourteen (14) members, including ten (10) competitors (6 men & 4 women), a team leader, 2 coaches and a team doctor.
B. Each team may enter only one (1) athlete in one category.
C. Each competitor should bring along with a Health Certificate (including electrocardiogram, electroencephalogram, pulse and blood pressure) issued at least 30 days before the competitions signed by a qualified doctor, a Life Insurance Certificate and a Waiver of Responsibilities.

3. Competition Methods
A. The competition will be Individual Competition.
B. The knock out system will be adopted. If the number of competitors is 4 or less (excluding 4), a single round – robin will be adopted.
C. The competition will be conducted in accordance with the “Rules for International Wushu Sanshou Competition” (Trial Version)endorsed by the IWUF in 2003.
D. The power of interpretation of the Rules rests solely with the IWUF. In the event of disagreement in the interpretation of the Rules, the Chinese Text shall prevail.

B. Each competitor must possess two (2) sets of costumes: one set of black and one set of red costumes.
C. Head protectors, body protectors, gloves, shinguards and instepguards will be provided by the Organizing Committee except for gum – shield and jockstrap which must be provided by the competitors themselves.

5. Technical Meeting
The meeting for team manager and coach will be held at 9:00 on December 9, 2005. Each team may send two representatives to attend the meeting at which matters relating the competitions shall be announced.

6. Drawing-lots
The Drawing – lots Ceremony of the 8th World Wushu Championships will be conducted by the IWUF Technical Committee at 10:00 on December 9, 2005.
