USA Sanshou Team Trial Criteria
There will be competition for selecting the winners of five (5) men’s weight divisions from amongst 11 divisions (48kg; 52kg; 56kg; 60kg; 65kg; 70kg; 75kg; 80kg; 85kg; 90kg; and over 90kg) and four (4) women’s weight division. The winners will be determined through eliminations. Priority will be given to these winners in selecting USA Sanshou Team Members.
Finals
If selected for compete in the evening’s Born-To-Fight Superfights in determining a slot for USA Sanshou Team, each fighter must apply for a California State Athletic Commission license and medical exam. (Registration on the day of the event is possible) Each fighter may have 1 or 2 cornerpeople but each must apply for seconds license through the CSAC with a fee of $55. (Registration of cornerpeople on the day of the event is possible. See www.dca.ca.gov/csac)
However, additional considerations must be factored in the selection process for fielding the best USA Sanshou Team for international competition. Primary consideration will be given to the gold medalists, then to the silver medalists, and then to the bronze medalists for each weight category at the IWUF World Championships in Macau of November 2003.
Secondly, consideration will be given essentially to the gold medalists, then to the silver medalists, and then to the bronze medalists for each weight category at the World Cup in Guangzhou of November 2004.
Thirdly, consideration will be given also to the gold medalists, then to the silver medalists, and then to the bronze medalists for each weight category at the Pan American Championships in Virginia of July 2004.
Fourthly, consideration will also be accorded for USA Team Members serving as alternates but who were unable to compete in the following descending sequence:a. IWUF Worlds in Macau 2003
b. World Cup in Guangzhou 2004
c. Pan American Championships July 2004A selection panel composed of the USAWKF Sanshou Committee will vote in case of necessary tie-breakers. A call for qualified judges and officials to participate is being issued. We have already an official timekeeper for the trials.
