2005 U.S. Taolu Team Selection Criteria

  5. Participation requirements

    1. U.S. Citizenship
    2. Member of USAWKF
    3. Competition Fee -

      2 Events - $100 if a USAWKF member after 1/31/2005 - OR - $85 if a USAWKF member on or before 1/31/05
      3rd Event - $50
      4th Event - $50


  6. Participation Methods

    1. Each competitor may enter a maximum four (4) competition events
      1. 1 Quanshu - Quanshu includes Chang Quan, Nan Quan and Tai Ji Quan
      2. 1 Short Weapon Routine
      3. 1 Long Weapon Routine
      4. 1 Dual Event
  7. Team Selection

    1. Scores will be calculated by adding together the two highest scores, one of which must be empty-hand. Each competitor must enter a minimum of two events (1 empty-hand + 1 weapon) and up to the maximum of four events.
    2. Group sets will not count in the selection
    3. Team A will consist of places 1st through 5th. Team B will consist of places 6th through 10th. Team C will consist of places 11th through 15th.
    4. Registration Form for degree of difficulty for empty hand events should be submitted to the USAWKF by Monday July 18, 2005.

  8. Competition Events

    1. Taolu

      1. Changquan, Nanquan and Taijiquan will be implemented according to Optional routine of the new competition rules (The athletes can choose the degree of difficulty of movements of categories A and B. If they choose the degree of difficulty of movements of category C, the value will be awarded according to the value of degree of difficulty of movements of category B). The athletes are requested to fill out the Registration Form for Movements with Degree of Difficulty and the Scoring Method and Criteria for Optional Events will be implemented. At the same category of degree of difficulty, the movement with the same degree of difficulty can be done two times at most, but the movement with degree of difficulty of connecting movements cannot be repeated (The degree of difficulty of connecting movements of Changquan, Jian, Dao, Qiang and Gun and whirlwind 540 in the Degree of Difficulty of Connecting Movements and Value can be followed by stances).

      2. Daoshu, Jianshu, Nandao, Taijijian, Qiangshu, Gunshu and Nangun (Either international competition routine or optional routine. The Scoring Criteria for Non-Degree of Difficulty of Movements will be implemented. The Deduction Method & Criteria for Group A is the same as that of Group A of Optional Events.)

    2. Dual events (Group Sets)

      1. Dual events shall be conducted by 2 or 3 persons. Men and women cannot be mixed for registration. The Scoring Method and Criteria for Dual Events will be implemented.
  9. Costumes and Equipment

    1. Competitors shall wear Wushu competition costumes in compliance with the Rules during all the competitions.
    2. All equipment and facilities at the competition and training sites must be in conformity with the Rules.
    3. Competitors shall bring their own equipment for their respective events in accordance with the Rules.

  10. Technical Meeting

    1. The meeting for team manager and coach will be held at 4:00pm, Friday, August 5th, 2005. Each team may send two representatives to attend the meeting at which matters relating the competitions shall be announced.

  11. Drawing-lots

    1. The Drawing - lots Ceremony of the Team trial will be conducted by the USAWKF Technical Committee at 5:30pm, Friday, August 5, 2005. Each competitor is required to attend the drawing lot meeting. If you are unable to attend , you may send a representatives to attend the ceremony. The USAWKF Technical Committee will draw on behalf of the competitors that are unable to send a representative.

  12. Degree of Difficulty Movements
    1. All categories of degree difficulty movements can be found from rules of IWUF Booklet.
