Famous Chinese Masters to Teach Seminars to Raise Money for the USAWKF Sichuan Earthquake Relief Fund

Many members of USAWKF have contributed funds to relief efforts for those afflicted by the recent devastating earthquake in Sichuan, China (see Donation for 5/12 Sichuan Earthquake Relief).

USAWKF Board member Malee Khow, director of the 2008 National Championships and 3rd New England International Chinese Martial Arts Championships, has organized a series of seminars by famous Chinese wushu teachers to raise further funds for the relief effort. These seminars will take place after the completion of competitions. They are suitable for people of all experience levels.

Additional seminars will be announced when they have been confirmed. Registration forms will be available for download soon at http://2008nationals.wordpress.com. Participants may also register at the event site.

About the teachers:

Professor Li Deyin is a professor at People’s University in Beijing. He is the nephew of famous Grandmaster Li Tianji and trained in traditional Chinese martial arts from a very young age, eventually mastering a wide range of traditional and contemporary styles. He is a widely-traveled teacher and famous for his personable and engaging style of teaching.

Professor Wen Zuohui is a professor at the Chengdu Sports Institute. She is a master of traditional and contemporary wushu who frequently directs instructors and judges training courses, such as the 2nd USAWKF/USANTCCF Instructors and Judges Examination Course held in Connecticut, June 9-13, 2008. She also frequently acts as Chief Taolu Referee at national and international tournaments.

Professor Zhu Ruiqi is a professor at the Beijing Sports University. A master of wushu, he is also one of the leading authorities on sport sanshou in the world. His knowledge of the sport itself, along with a deep understanding of the rules, makes him the first choice for Chief Sanshou Referee at national and international championships, and for judges training courses like the 2nd USAWKF/USANTCCF Instructors and Judges Examination Course held in Connecticut, June 9-13, 2008.

Master Chen Sitan, www.sitantaiji.com, was one of the top taiji competitors in China and the world in the 1980s and 1990s. He is an accomplished coach of all wushu styles currently living in New York. He specializes in internal wushu styles.
