December of 1997 marked the inauguration of the USAWKF Hall of Fame, in Baltimore, Maryland. Its purpose was to recognize the contributions of many of the Federation's dedicated martial artists who have helped build the organization into the success it is today. In August 1998, USAWKF held its second awards ceremony and banquet, awarding recognition to athletes, coaches and promoters, as well as to those who have devoted much, if not most, of their lives to wushu-kungfu.
USAWKF
President Anthony Goh remarked at last year's ceremony:
"USAWKF has inspired an enormous effort on the part of so many individuals
to come together to organize an unorganized sport. There are a lot of people
who have given so much of their time and expertise building the structure of
the organization, promoting activities, and doing public work. The USAWKF has
made tremendous improvements and received a lot of recognition through their
efforts, and these people truly deserve to be recognized in their own right
for all they have done.
"In the beginning, nobody knew what to expect, but out of chaos, and through all the challenges, the USAWKF has grown into a strong and productive entity recognized all around the country and the world. It's the cooperation and united effort of so many of our members which has really made it possible. We have created the Hall of Fame now to show our appreciation, not just individuals, but also as a community.
