The USAWKF has successfully conducted the 2006 US Junior Wushu Team Trials at the University of Maryland, College Park on May 13th and 14th. A total of 57 athletes from across the United States vied for the honor of representing the US in the inaugural World Junior Wushu Championships (1st WJWC).
The 2006 US Junior Wushu Team Trials also represents another milestone: It is the first tournament in the Americas to successfully implement a computerized scoring system for the new IWUF rules!
Thanks to all the parents, coaches, performers, judges, officials, volunteers, and the University of Maryland Institute for Global Chinese Affairs for making this event a success. Special thanks go to Anita Lopez and the University of Maryland's Terp Wushu Club for their exceptional management of the competition arena.
Finally, congratulations to all the athletes on their outstanding achievements! The 1st Team members for Group A and Group B age categories will represent the United States to compete in the 1st WJWC, which will be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in August 2006.
