Dear IWUF member federations,

It is with great pleasure that I inform you that the 1st World Traditional Wushu
Festival which was held from October 16 to 20, 2004 in Zhengzhou, China was a
great success. Hereby, on behalf of the International Wushu Federation and the
Chinese Wushu Association, I would like to congratulate you on the goods results
you achieved at the Festival and I wish to thank you for your support for our
work.

There are 1282 athletes from 62 countries and territories participated in the
event. Among them, 395 athletes from 39 countries and territories won the first
prize. The 5-day Festival organized successful competitions. The magnificent
opening ceremony, grand welcoming ceremony at Dengfeng, demonstration of
traditional regimen exercises and world champions, thesis seminar, Duanwei
examination course and wushu apparatus exhibition showcased the charm of
traditional wushu in an all-round way. The Festival enhanced understanding and
friendship among people of different countries and territories through sharing
shills and experiences of wushu. It left good memory on every participant.

The Festival is the biggest competition event in the history of wushu in terms
of its scale and standard. The successful organization of the event will further
accelerate the popularization and promotion of traditional wushu in the world,
and in the meantime, play a positive role in wushu's entry into the Olympic
Games.
